Winning Texas Holdem Strategy
Poker is a people game. The basis of this
strategy is that you capitalize on the mistakes other players
make, these generally are:
- Poor starting hands
- Calling bets instead of folding
- Bluffing (too much)
- Slowplaying (too much)
- Not reading the board correctly
- Chasing long shots
- trying to outdraw you
This strategy is based on not doing any of
the above. If you were to stop or never do any of these then
you are already a winning poker player.
Typically the games were players commit all
of these sins are low limit texas holdem games, up to $2/$4
and often extending to $5/$10.
The strategy is particularly effective when
played at a full 10 seated table with five or more players
calling to see the flop (loose). If the game is mostly passive
(calling not raising) then that can make it even more profitable.
However don't be put off if you have one or
two aggressive (raising) players at the table, if their aggressive
play is misplaced or their table image is wild, they can be
very good at building pots for you. Starting
